Proper care extends the life of your selvedge denim and helps develop beautiful, personalized fades over time.
The Golden Rule
Wash your raw denim as infrequently as possible. The longer you wait before your first wash, the more defined your fades will be - most enthusiasts wait at least six months.
Do
- Wear your jeans as much as possible before the first wash
- Turn jeans inside out before washing
- Use cold water to preserve indigo
- Air dry whenever possible
- Spot clean small stains instead of full washes
- Store in a cool, dry place
Don't
- Use hot water or bleach
- Put in the dryer on high heat
- Dry clean your raw denim
- Wash too frequently (every 30+ wears is fine)
- Leave wet denim bunched up
- Store in direct sunlight long-term
