Standard & Strange grew from an Oakland Temescal shop into one of the country's top destinations for heavyweight Japanese denim, workwear, and welted boots, built on the motto 'own fewer, better things.' After its 5010 Telegraph Avenue lease ended in 2023, the Bay Area store relocated to West Berkeley (755 Hearst Ave, 4th Street Shops); it also runs a New York location and offers in-house chainstitch hemming.
