Denim Drops: What Launched in August
August was a heavy month. Our directory tracked 868 new products across 58 brands in the last three weeks, and the selvedge cuts below are the ones that stand out. Every drop on this page is live in the Drops feed, which updates nightly as stores sync.
The Big Movers
Naked & Famous shipped the most, with 119 products. The new ones include a 10 oz High Noon selvedge in the True Guy cut, a 13 oz Brown Fox, and a 12.5 oz Coffee Dye, all at James Dant in Indianapolis. Samurai followed with 83, headlined by the S3000XX 17 oz Murasame rain slub at James Dant and the S510HXII 15.8 oz at Franklin and Poe.
Freenote Cloth landed 75 products, including a Wilkes Western in 15 oz dark brown and the 14.5 oz Kaihara limited edition at their San Juan Capistrano storefront. Brave Star Selvage put up 68, with a 9 oz Red Sun, a 14 oz Brown Bear, and a Die Hard Double Knee in 14 oz Onyx.
Heavyweights and Newcomers
Iron Heart added 64 products across August, and the pair getting the most attention is the 888S-SBG, a 21 oz Superblack fade-to-grey in the relaxed tapered cut, at Division Road. The IH-888S-142 in 14 oz dropped at James Dant.
The Japanese mills were busy. Pure Blue Japan put up 56 products including a 6225-D Dark Waterfall Type II jacket and the SLB-019 16.5 oz slubby relaxed taper. ONI matched with 56, led by the 288CCD Concrete Denim in grey olive and the 17 oz Bumpy Denim in Murasaki and Oudo. Studio D'Artisan landed 25, with the D4615 Awa Sho-Ai kakishibu and the D1894S Sou-Ai natural indigo. Momotaro shipped 26, including the MMJZ6402 Bamboo Charcoal 12.5 oz at Blue Owl Workshop.
Two brands you may not have tracked: Tanuki surfaced 9 products this week, including a TNK202KH 14.5 oz kakishibu high taper and the 15 oz IDxID Type III jacket, both at James Dant. And Warehouse & Co. dropped the Lot 800XX 14.5 oz rinsed selvedge and the Lot 224 14.5 oz Black 66 at Blue Owl.
American Workwear and the Rest
Rogue Territory landed 22 products, with the Silveridge 15 oz indigo at Berkeley Supply and a 17 oz Cryptic Strider in stealth. The Flat Head added 10, including the FN-8004 18 oz wide tapered at Franklin and Poe. Tellason shipped the Sheffield straight tapered 14.75 oz at Berkeley Supply.
Levi's spread across its sublabels: the 501 New Selvedge Rinse at Milworks, a 1967 505 and 1944 501 from Levi's Vintage Clothing, and the 501 Beautiful Disaster selvedge under Levi's Premium at Reserve Supply and STAG Provisions.
Smaller drops worth a look: Railcar made a 12 oz ecru natural selvedge Spike X105 at its El Monte shop, Indigofera shipped a Buck Jeans in 18 oz Shiroyama selvedge at Manready Mercantile, and orSlow refreshed the Super Dad's fit one-wash at Standard & Strange.
